50th Anniversary Celebrations
The Caveside Swimming
Pool is an essential part of community life and has now become a unique part of
the local history – a wonderful facility made available to the community by the
community. It was envisaged, planned for, financed and built by community
members and to this day is maintained by local support and volunteer
assistance. Volunteers come in the form of committee members, participants at
working bees, fundraisers, donors, and those who take their turn on the weekly
roster. The Committee has been assisted over the years with financial support
from both the State Government and the Meander Valley council.
To celebrate the past 50 years, to honour those who had the foresight to build the pool,
and to acknowledge those who still preserve and maintain it, a
50th Anniversary Celebration will be held on Saturday 8th December 2007.
A programme of events is yet to be finalised, but at this early stage, it is envisaged to hold an afternoon reunion at the Pool, followed in the evening by a gathering and hot meal at the Caveside Hall.
A Commemorative booklet will be published to coincide with the 50th Anniversary, detailing much of the information in this website and including many more photos and anecdotes...
There will be many, many names not mentioned in this website, and many stories untold. If you have a story to tell, memories to share, photos, memorabilia, or a special recollection, we would like you to share it with us to make this History complete.
